One day it occurred
to the Members of the Body
that they did all the work
and the Belly got all the food.
Strike, Strike
said the Hands
swiftly and at once.
So everyone did.
Except the ear who knew
when the eye is closed
that out there
the world may be large
but it is deep
within us.
While the eyes, fools as usual,
couldn't bear to look,
and began almost at once
to dream.
And the tongue at its tip
began to taste its own silence.
