Our fourth issue features photographer William Thompson. Thompson has spent 10 years working assignments for the National Geographic, which sent him on a two year odyssey following elephants "on their tragic path toward extinction - almost becoming extinct himself from cerebral malaria." He's also credited with creating the first and only complete aerial imagery of Mt. Everest. His work is powerful and affecting. We are honored to present his work to you in this issue of Literary Salt.

The issue features three poems by the youngest poet ever to be accepted for publication in Literary Salt. She's a seventeen year old from Plano, Texas named Chen Gu. Don't let the fact that she's young lull you into assuming her work can be easily dismissed. This imagery is mature beyond most well-established poets who are far more seasoned than she is. Simply put, we were amazed and we think you will be, too.

Carol Yocom gifted us with two stunning poems for this issue; The Platte, 1854 and a poem sequence titled The Tattoo Narratives. Some of you may remember her visual work in Issue 2. We are truly pleased to be the publishers of this multi-talented woman's work.

Our enthusiasm is running pretty high with this fourth issue of Literary Salt. Its pages are filled with excellent work by other outstanding talents as well as those I've already mentioned above. Please step into the pages of Issue 4 and read the work of David Gravender, Martha Silano, Bruce Taylor, Kathleen Flenniken, Aaron Crippen, William Auten, and Joanne Leow. And don't miss visual artists' Gregg Chadwick and Caryn Drexl.

As always, clicking on any of the images in the issue will take you to a blow-up of the piece. Clicking on a visual artist's name will take you to the bio for that artist. Likewise, clicking on an author's name at the top of a page will take you to the author's bio.

If you find you're interested in purchasing any of the art in this issue but can't find an e-mail address for the artist, please use our "contact us" e-mail address. I will forward any requests to the artist.

On behalf of myself and the editorial board, I want to thank our authors and artists for their fine work. I'm honored and privileged to present them here in Literary Salt.

Sincerely,
Pamela Moore Dionne
